The 2009 was our first vintage – and hasn’t it grown up! What was once lovely and fresh, with great fruit character, is now ageing into a robust mature wine! It still has tannin and acidity, so is still food friendly – but the flavours have moved on to savoury, earthiness, smoky bacon and tobacco leaf. A bit of pepper as well.
Decant it to enjoy now, with strong cheeses or a meal of duck or beef. But I suggest holding on to it – it has more life in it yet!
